MCDONALD’S WHETS THE APPETITE WITH ITS DIGITAL SOLUTION

I want to share an experience I had when I went to McDonald’s the other day.

When I wanted to order my meal deal and burgers, I found it much more convenient to go to one of those big display panels rather than the person behind the till. 

It was quick and easy, and I could change the order anytime I wanted.

How does that relate to chemical distribution?

People always say that personal relationships are all important in this industry and that you need to be able to speak to another person on the other side of the phone if you want to buy chemicals.

Well, if McDonald’s is reporting an uplift in sales of 5% through having these screens in its restaurants, it surely can be a good thing for chemical distribution to move this way as well.

You may be ordering your burger onscreen but if there are any problems you can still speak to the person at the till. I believe chemical distribution should be moving in that direction too. 

You can still sell your chemicals by going to visit a customer, by calling them up on the phone, or emailing through an order but I believe that using an online ecommerce platform has an important role to play as well.

If it can work for the likes of McDonald’s, why can’t the same technology be applied to chemical distribution with a similar online platform?
